The Assault Rifle 90 (abbreviated Stgw90) was, as the name suggests, introduced into the Swiss Army in 1990 to replace the Assault Rifle 57, which dated back to 1957, and is also approved for competitive shooting. It is one of the most accurate assault rifles in the world.

To date, approximately 450,000 Sturmgewehr 90s have been delivered to the Swiss Army. The French designation for the weapon is Fusil d’assaut 90, the Italian is Fucile d’assalto 90, and it is abbreviated as “Fass 90” in both languages.

The manually adjustable gas regulator has two settings: one for normal operation and the other for use in conditions of heavy fouling or icing.

A cantonal exemption permit (ABG) is required to purchase this firearm.
