Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Aktiengesellschaft (DWM) was a defense contractor in Imperial Germany that was founded in 1896 when Ludwig Loewe & Company consolidated its weapons and ammunition factories into a single company

The development and use of the vast industrial complex in Borsigwalde are closely linked to German military and political history: on two occasions, the arms manufacturers based here supplied German soldiers with weapons and ammunition; on two occasions, the companies were compelled by the Entente and the Allies to switch their production to civilian goods.

As the National Socialists prepared for war, the site was once again put into service for weapons production, which, starting in 1936, was once again operated under the old company name DWM. The factory complex was expanded along Miraustraße to the north, and in addition to DWM, “Mauserwerke” and “Dürener Metallwerke” were now also producing at the Borsigwalde site. Several forced-labor camps were built around the factory grounds, with another at the Schönholz train station. After 1945, weapons production was permanently halted.
