The SIG SG 551 is available in several specialized variants designed for use by security and special operations units.
These variants include the SG551-1P, the SG551 SWAT (coated with a corrosion-resistant finish and equipped with a sight mount for a variety of rifle scopes), and the SG551 LB carbine with an extended 454 mm (17.9 in) barrel.
