The ALG Defense El Corto short-barreled rifle was designed for shooters looking for a simple, well-crafted Mil-Spec-grade SBR (Short-Barreled Rifle) at a reasonable price. The El Corto is a complete firearm system that comes with a carrying sling and a Warner & Swasey red dot sight.

A high-quality rifle starts with a high-quality receiver set. The upper and lower receivers of the El Corto are machined from domestically sourced 7075 aluminum billets. The billets are heated to nearly 1,000°F and then forged into the rough outer shape of the upper or lower receiver using a 1,100-metric-ton forging press.

The forged parts are then machined on a CNC horizontal machining center, removing most of the aluminum to create a strong and lightweight component. After polishing and smoothing, the receivers are hard-anodized in matte black Mil-Spec Type 3.

The El Corto’s handguard is the well-known ALG V3X—featuring a slim, round profile and M-LOK slots for low profile. The V3X uses the ALG large-diameter barrel nut for ultimate rigidity and resistance to rough handling.

A comfortable and ergonomic SOPMOD stock from B5 Systems is connected to a Mil-Spec six-stage buffer tube made of 7075-T6 aluminum. A braided Geissele Super 42 buffer spring works in conjunction with an H2 buffer to ensure that even lightly loaded steel-jacketed rounds cycle reliably.

The bolt carrier group is manufactured by Geissele Automatics from Mil-Spec 8620, 4140, 4130, and Carpenter 158 steel, with the interior of the bolt carrier and the gas key hard-chromed. All other parts of the BCG are manganese-phosphated, except for the hard-chromed firing pin.

Of course, the El Corto is equipped with the renowned ALG Defense Advanced Combat Trigger. This trigger is used in countless police service rifles, including the U.S. Border Patrol’s new rifle, and is a smooth, creep-free single-stage combat trigger.

The El Corto’s barrel is made of MIL-B-11595E chrome-molybdenum steel, cold-hammered, and hard-chromed. The 5.56 NATO chamber can fire both .223 Remington and military 5.56 mm ammunition. Hard chrome plating is the most effective method for producing a truly rugged combat barrel. Chrome not only provides corrosion and wear resistance but is also non-staining and resistant to the erosive effects of hot powder gases. Owners of an El Corto receive a durable barrel that maintains its accuracy over thousands of rounds, even at high rates of fire.

This barrel is connected to a Geissele 17-4 PH stainless steel gas block with a carbine-length gas tube. The proven A2 muzzle brake protects the muzzle crown and reduces muzzle flash. Versions of the El Corto will be available in the near future with suppressor-ready muzzle attachments.

To complete the rifle system, the El Corto comes with an M4 carbine Mil-Spec webbing sling and a QD steel swivel. The icing on the cake is the U.S.-developed Warner & Swasey 3 MOA red dot sight with integrated flip-up sights, eliminating the need for a separate BUIS set. Without having to remove the red dot or flip or slide anything aside, the integrated Warner & Swasey sights are immediately available in an emergency. A sharp and clear 3 MOA red dot underscores the quality of this sight as soon as the shooter aims at their target. A sturdy sight mount with oversized cross screws keeps the sight zeroed even during the inevitable bumps and drops an operational rifle will encounter. The industry-standard 1.54" distance of the red dot above the barrel bore axis provides optimal alignment with the shooter’s eye while allowing for firm cheek contact.
