Application in 5 Steps

1. Thoroughly clean the firearm and completely degrease the metal parts (e.g., with Fluna Gun Degreaser)—this is the only way the ceramic particles will adhere directly to the metal.

2. Apply Gun Coating sparingly: use the aerosol for large surfaces, and the liquid version drop by drop for the bolt, trigger, and small parts.

3. Spread with a lint-free cloth until a thin, even film forms.

4. Allow to dry: surface-dry after about 30 minutes; fully cured after about 2 hours.

5. Subsequent cleaning without oil: A Boresnake or microfiber cloth is sufficient; if necessary, clean with a degreaser and reapply the coating.

Do I really need to completely degrease the firearm before application?

Yes—this is the most important step. Oil or grease residue prevents the ceramic particles from adhering to the metal. Degrease thoroughly once with the Gun Degreaser; after that, a dry wipe is sufficient for routine cleaning. The degreaser is only used again if oil or grease gets on the firearm.

The firearm feels “dry” afterward—does it actually lubricate?

That’s exactly the principle: The ceramic coating provides lubrication as a dry lubricating film. Users report firing several hundred rounds without relubricating—the bolt operates noticeably smoother than with oil, without dust or gunpowder residue sticking to it.

Can I also use Gun Coating in the barrel?

Yes, after thoroughly cleaning the barrel. Important: Apply only a very thin layer using cotton or felt plugs and wipe it off carefully—a film that’s too thick can cause the first few rounds to misfire (like a classic “oil shot”). When applied thinly, the coating prevents exactly this first “oil shot” and makes cleaning the barrel much easier later on.

How do I clean a coated firearm later?

No longer with oil. For routine maintenance, a Boresnake and a microfiber cloth are sufficient—gunpowder residue can be easily wiped away. For a deep clean, use the degreaser and then reapply the coating.

Is the coating compatible with bluing, wood, and plastic?

Yes. Gun Coating is colorless and odorless and does not damage bluing, varnished wood, plastic, or rubber—it can therefore be used on the entire firearm, both inside and out.
