Geissele Reliability Enhancement Kit - 5.56mm

The Geissele Reliability Enhancement Kit includes the Geissele Reliability Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group and the Geissele Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring & Buffer in your choice of H1, H2, or H3 configuration for 5.56mm AR-15-style rifles. The Geissele REK is the result of years of extensive testing and fine-tuning to provide you with the most reliable operating system upgrade you can make to your carbine.

The Reliability Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group (REK) is a 5.56mm full-mass bolt carrier group with a fully automatic rating for M16/M4, manufactured at Geissele’s state-of-the-art production facility in North Wales, PA. The carrier features a properly twisted and stacked, chrome-lined, nano-coated gas key. The cam pin is machined from an advanced tool steel—known as H13—which is also used in the manufacture of medical instruments, and is then coated with Nanoweapon (chromium nitride) for maximum corrosion and wear resistance. The carrier’s extended upper rails also provide significantly greater stability and drastically increase feeding reliability. The carrier is coated with Nanoweapon for maximum corrosion and wear resistance.

The Geissele Stressproof Bolt is made from Carpenter 158, but this is not a typical material specified by the U.S. government. Since Geissele wanted to take it to the next level, our engineers worked directly with the metallurgists at Carpenter Steel in Reading, PA, to create a special type of material known as Carpenter 158+. This material is purer and contains fewer impurities, which ultimately makes it stronger and more durable. But that’s not all: we decided to forge the bolt. Using the same process employed in the manufacture of upper and lower receivers, a forged bolt manipulates the metal’s grain structure to produce a bolt with five times the service life of a Mil-Spec bolt. Each bolt is then rigorously inspected, pressure-tested, magnetically particle-inspected, and coated with Nanoweapon to ensure maximum corrosion and wear resistance.

Nanoweapon is a family of coatings similar to DSL (Durable Solid Lubricant), developed by Picatinny Arsenal (U.S. Army ARDEC) and available exclusively from Geissele Automatics. Our engineers collaborated for over three years with the research and development firm that worked with Picatinny to develop the coating, refining it into what it is today—making it the premier coating for firearm components. No other coating on the market offers the same level of corrosion, wear, and abrasion resistance as Nanoweapon.The coating is applied at low temperatures, so it does not affect the part’s metallurgy, and has a surface hardness of 82 HRC. With this hardness, it is harder than sand, which allows carbon to be easily removed and makes cleaning a breeze. In addition, the firearm can operate normally with less lubrication.
