Mosin-Nagant Chassis

In 2015, the team at KRYK embarked on an ambitious project: the development of a modern chassis system for the over 100-year-old Mosin-Nagant rifle.

Why was the Mosin-Nagant chosen?

Because it is one of the most challenging rifles for such a conversion project—and because it is possible.

The development goals were:

· To bring the ergonomics and usability of the historic rifle up to the level of modern firearms.

· To enable the use of a removable magazine.

· To achieve accurate shooting performance with a good barrel at an affordable price.

· Sturdy octagonal handguard with additional reinforcing ribs for maximum stability

Materials:

· Chassis: 7075 T651 aluminum alloy

· Handguard: 6082 T6 aluminum alloy

The handguard features M-LOK interfaces. The package includes three Picatinny rails, each 8 cm long .

All high-stress threaded areas are equipped with steel inserts are used to allow for higher tightening torques and to extend the service life of the threads.

A two-component Cerakote ceramic coating is applied.

All screws included have a minimum strength class 10.9. No screws made of inferior or soft materials are used.

Notes on fit:

You may encounter problems inserting the magazine. This can be caused by several factors:

· ProMag is the sole manufacturer of these magazines, and manufacturing tolerances may apply.

· Mosin-Nagant rifles were manufactured in numerous different factories and also exhibit dimensional variations.

In most cases, the cause is that the magazine is stuck at the cutoff reflector . If necessary, the magazine must be adjusted as shown in the manufacturer’s illustrations.

The manufacturer strongly recommends removing material gradually in increments of no more than 0.25 mm and to check the fit after each step. Depending on the rifle, no adjustment may be necessary; for other models, an adjustment of up to 4 mm may be necessary.
