The cold hammer forging process for barrels has been known for decades to produce the most accurate and durable rifle barrels. Cold hammer forging of barrels involves the application of intense hydraulic pressure exerted by carbide hammers from opposing directions. During the forging process, a mandrel is inserted into the barrel, and the carbide hammers shape the barrel around the mandrel, creating the chamber as well as the lands and grooves. In addition to these benefits, the cold-hammer process ensures a flawless barrel profile and a uniform chamber.

All cold-hammer-forged barrels from Daniel Defense are manufactured entirely at the company’s own state-of-the-art facility in Black Creek, GA. In keeping with their tradition of never compromising, all cold-hammer-forged barrels feature a forged chamber and a heavy phosphate-coated or salt bath nitrided exterior finish. These barrels are significantly more accurate and durable than barrels with cut or button-drilled barrel profiles.
