This AR-15 scope mount is part of the Geissele SOPMOD Certified series of Geissele products currently used by high-level military and counterterrorism units of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). SOPMOD is a USSOCOM program that allows special operations personnel to configure their weapons according to individual preferences and mission requirements. The program is an approved accessory system for the M4A1 carbine, FN SCAR Mk 16/17, and other weapons used by USSOCOM. All items offered by Geissele in the SOPMOD series have undergone rigorous testing by USSOCOM and certification by the U.S. government. These scope mounts are machined from a single 4.5-pound block of 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. The individually serialized scope caps are drilled into the housing in a single operation, ensuring the best possible fit with the scope’s housing. Geissele mounts are secured using the classic, proven nut-clamping system, which provides a clamping force of 1,400 pounds per nut. This system provides up to three times more clamping force than any other lever system, while precision-machined shear tabs help secure the scope to the receiver during recoil. The mounting surface spans 8 Picatinny slots.
