Reduced Backpressure Suppressor (RBS), 5.56 mm (.223) and 7.62 mm (.308)

When using a silencer, the gas blowback into the user’s face is not only disruptive but also poses a health risk, especially in enclosed shooting ranges. The new RBS suppressor significantly reduces the amount of combustion gases escaping from the ejection port and the charging handle.

As useful as the use of suppressors is in police and military applications, the escape of retained gases from the ejection port and the charging handle has various drawbacks. With the new RBS suppressor, B&T has addressed these issues. The new low-pressure chamber design allows it to absorb a considerable amount of gas, thereby reducing back pressure, which makes the RBS an excellent choice for semi-automatic carbines, assault rifles, and machine guns.

While standard suppressors increase the rate of fire by up to more than 30% due to gas backpressure, measurements have shown that with the RBS, the increase in rate of fire is only about 4%, which also significantly reduces wear on the firearm. This is due to the special design of the first expansion chamber, which reduces pressure in less than half the time and thus prevents gas backpressure. Another advantage is the resulting significant reduction in system fouling.

The low-pressure expansion chamber only minimally increases the size and weight of the suppressor compared to conventional suppressors, while muzzle flash and noise are suppressed just as effectively as with the proven B&T suppressors.

The RBS is available in 5.56 (.223) and 7.62 (.308) calibers, each in a direct-mount (DM) version for various muzzle threads as well as with a newly developed quick-detach (QD) mount compatible with all NATO A2 muzzle brakes.

A cantonal exemption permit (ABG) is required to purchase this firearm.
