The Magpul Tactile Lock-Plate is a magazine extension that allows users to quickly and easily identify and distinguish between magazines containing mixed loads—such as full metal jacket, tracer, supersonic, and subsonic ammunition—using raised tactile features. These features consist of 1/8" raised ridges that protrude through the opening in the magazine baseplate and are intentionally shaped to an optimal height to ensure functionality even when wearing gloves.

The Magpul Tactile Lock-Plate is available in two different configurations of 1/8"-ribs: Type 1—single rib and Type 2—double rib. These designs allow the user to quickly and reliably identify three different load types by touch when used in conjunction with standard baseplate/lock-plate combinations. Full functionality is maintained when the magazine is inserted into a firearm or a magazine pouch, while retaining the proven PMAG Gen M3 strength and performance characteristics to earn the end user’s full confidence.
