The thermal imaging clip-on device for existing night vision devices creates an image overlay, thereby combining the advantages of both technologies in a single device. The low-light intensifier allows the user to move freely in the dark and perceive their surroundings (depending on the tube’s performance and available ambient light) as clearly as during the day. Thanks to the additional thermal imaging channel, objects that stand out from their surroundings based on temperature can be detected much earlier—and even in the absence of ambient light.
Even at distances of 50 m, it is extremely difficult to detect stationary individuals in the forest using residual light amplifiers, especially when they are leaning against trees or bushes. Overlaying the residual light image with the thermal image means that the distinct temperature differences between structures and vegetation—compared to body temperature—can also be used as a detection source. As a result, the person becomes clearly recognizable even at greater distances.
With a pure low-light intensifier, it is necessary to activate an infrared illuminator under poor conditions. This makes the user very easy to detect. This risk is minimized with fusion technology.
The high-sensitivity detector, with a resolution of 640 x 512, offers exceptional detail and, as a result, an increased range. Thanks to numerous modes such as Black/Hot, Target Enhancement, and Outline, the user can optimally adapt the device to a wide variety of situations. As a cost-effective addition, the F-COD can be attached to nearly all night vision devices.
The F-COD (Fused Clip-On Device) has been in use by many units in Germany for years and enjoys great popularity.
The improved successor model, the F-COD Pro, will be available starting in Q3 2024. The F-COD Pro is even smaller, lighter, and yet more powerful.
The F-COD Pro offers 2 different basic modes:
Highlight
Outline (adjustable)
The intensity levels of each mode can be finely tuned to the user’s preferences.
AGC (Automatic Gain Control) adjusts the thermal imaging sensor to different temperature conditions, thereby providing optimal contrast between the heat source and its surroundings.
An optional automatic or manual brightness adjustment, controlled by a light sensor, ensures optimal image display and reduces the risk of eye strain from glare.
Weighing just 50g, it is by far the lightest device on the market.
Instead of the two previous models, the F-COD and F-COD EB (with an external battery pack instead of a built-in battery), the F-COD PRO combines both models into one. The “battery compartment”—or rather, the battery container—can be removed without tools, allowing a power cable to be connected.
