The Magpul DAKA Hard Case, R44 addresses the many shortcomings of current hard-shell cases and offers a stronger, easier-to-use, and more reliable transport and storage system. Combined with our innovative DAKA GRID Organizer, the DAKA Hard Case creates a premium storage solution optimized for you and your gear, both inside and out. It is streamlined, easy to maneuver, and offers plenty of usable protective space. It also features advanced design elements such as improved latches, recessed lock housings, ergonomic handles, and reliable wheels—all in a package that better protects your critical gear. The DAKA hard-shell case has also eliminated the many potential trouble spots that typically lead to damage, allowing it to glide smoothly over most surfaces during transport.

The R44 is based on the uniquely customizable DAKA GRID Organizer and was designed for rifles and medium-length equipment. It comfortably accommodates one or more rifles and most of the additional gear required for traveling with your firearms. Unlike traditional foam inserts, the DAKA GRID does not trap moisture, dirt, or other contaminants. The DAKA GRID consists of individual end plates made of expanded polypropylene (EPP), center panels, and DAKA blocks that can be securely assembled to create an advanced drop-in system that organizes your gear into compartments. The DAKA blocks can be easily pressed into the GRID panels and are just as easy to remove and reinsert, depending on what you want to carry. The R44 comes with 8 (eight) triple blocks and 8 (eight) double blocks, allowing you to customize your gear setup; additional blocks are available as needed. If you’re carrying wider or taller equipment such as lamps, tripods, or lasers, a middle GRID panel can also be trimmed or removed to make room for objects up to 4.25 inches wide, as long as you support both ends of the item on the other panels. If you need to cut a panel to create a custom cavity for your wider gear, the EPP can be easily cut to size; it won’t flake off like regular foam and won’t lose its strength or ability to protect your essential gear.

The rounded, double-walled corners of the DAKA hard-shell case provide strength and reduce snagging during transport, while creating impact zones for added shock resistance that also serve as storage compartments for other necessary gear. The water- and weather-resistant seal also keeps dust and moisture out and provides self-adjusting pressure equalization, ensuring that the contents remain protected from external environmental influences. The hard-shell case’s injection-molding technology ensures greater strength and structural integrity compared to other conventional cases, with durability and drop resistance that withstand the toughest conditions during shipping, travel, and heavy-duty use.

The latch design and the increased rigidity of the case make the latches easy to operate and incredibly robust. Each latch features a large, easy-to-use push button that can be operated with one hand. When the push button is pressed, the latch opens and remains in the open position; it can also be used as a handle to open the lid. The latch closes with a simple downward press anywhere along the latch body, and there is a clearly audible “click” when it is secured. The innovative latch design also features a new type of latch locking system. Each latch on the DAKA hard-shell suitcase includes a lock passage, and once a lock is installed (we recommend a lock with a 5/16" thick shackle and an internal spacing of 1–1.5"), the latch cannot be opened until the lock is removed, thereby securing the entire suitcase. In addition, each latch features a lock housing and a cable tie grommet that allows the lock to be secured to the case, protecting both the lock and the case from damage caused by impacts. For this purpose, the hard case includes four Velcro straps.

The interlocking tabs ensure a secure connection when DAKA hard-shell suitcases are stacked on top of one another, and two integrated strap recesses hold the ratchet straps in place and secure them during use. There are two large main handles that are easy to maneuver even when loaded, and a third, integrated handle near the wheels makes it easier to move the case and allows it to stand upright vertically. The handles feature cross-sections modeled after Magpul pistol grips to ensure greater comfort and control, and they are fully integrated into the suitcase frame. They are designed to remain open when extended and stay closed when not in use. The wheels are designed for smooth rolling and long service life; thanks to their ball bearings, rubber coating, and reinforced polymer hubs, they reduce noise, friction, and the ingress of foreign objects.

This R44 case has interior dimensions of 44.25" x 17" x 5.5" and is best suited for up to two standard 16" rifles, heavy carbines, and other similar firearms.
